Introduction

Queen's University Library provides spaces, collections, and services to Queen's students, faculty, and staff. Queen's alumni and local area residents and visitors are also welcome to visit us and make use of select library resources.  A list of electronic databases for alumni remote access are also available.

Library Access

The libraries at Queen's are open to members of the public. Researchers and visitors are welcome to visit any campus library to consult and make use of:

  • Our academic search tool, Omni
  • print and microform collections
  • self-service printers and copiers
  • basic information services
  • reading rooms

While everyone is always welcome in our spaces, we do ask that members of the community be mindful of student exam periods as the libraries are at capacity during these times and finding study space is important to student success.

Borrowing Privileges

  • Queen's graduates may use their Queen's Alumni Card to borrow books.
  • Area residents unaffiliated with Queen's may borrow books, once they obtain a Community Borrower's Card from the information services desk at Bracken Health Sciences Library, the Education Library, or at Stauffer Library. The Community Borrower's Card is for the cardholder's personal use. It may not be transferred to other individuals or used for business purposes.
  • Most books can be borrowed for 14 days and can be renewed if not requested by another patron. Borrowers are advised to check individual libraries' circulation policies to clarify precisely which library resources may be borrowed.
  • Visiting Scholars, Faculty Members  and students from other universities may be eligible for borrowing privileges at Queen's University Library under the terms of reciprocal agreements among educational institutions. For more information, consult the Reciprocal Borrowing Agreements page.

Limits

Alumni and Community members borrowing privileges are limited when they reach 20 items or $20.00 in fees.
